Photographing The Incredible Brunch: Grease in Lancaster

Event Photography

Some events are all about the experience, the entertainment, the atmosphere, the people you share it with, and the memories you take away afterwards.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing The Incredible Brunch: Grease in Lancaster, capturing an afternoon filled with live entertainment, music, laughter and plenty of energy.

For me, event photography isn’t simply about photographing what’s happening on stage. It’s about capturing the people experiencing it.

Capturing the Atmosphere

The Incredible Brunch brought together groups of friends ready to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment, food and fun.
There was plenty happening throughout the event, from the live performances to people laughing, posing for photographs and enjoying time together.

These interactions are some of my favourite things to photograph at events.

A great event photograph doesn’t always need to show the main attraction. Sometimes it’s a reaction from the audience, a group of friends laughing together, or a spontaneous moment between performances that really captures what the event felt like.

Capturing Groups and Memories

One of the most rewarding parts of event photography is bringing people together for photographs.

Whether it’s a group of friends celebrating a special occasion or simply people wanting a photograph to remember the afternoon, these images can become some of the most meaningful photographs from an event.

I enjoy helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera while also looking for natural moments happening around them. The combination of posed group photographs and candid moments creates a more complete record of the experience.

More Than Just the Main Event

Live entertainment naturally provides plenty of opportunities for photographs, but an event is made up of much more than what happens on stage.

The atmosphere comes from the audience, the conversations, the laughter, the reactions and the connections between people.

As an event photographer, I look for these moments throughout the day so that the final collection of photographs tells the story of the whole experience rather than focusing on just one part of it.

Photography That Lasts Beyond the Event

Professional event photography also provides something valuable after the event has finished.

The photographs can be used to share the experience on social media, promote future events, update websites and give attendees images they can share with friends and family.

For event organisers, building a strong library of professional photographs means having authentic content that can continue to promote their events long after the original afternoon has finished.
