Photographing the Hall Bower Cricket Club 150th Anniversary Charity Match
Sports Photography
Some sporting events are about far more than the final score. They celebrate history, strengthen communities, and bring people together in support of important causes.
I recently had the pleasure of providing event photography for the Hall Bower Cricket Club 150th Anniversary Charity Match, a special occasion marking 150 years of the club while raising money for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.
As a sports and event photographer in Huddersfield, it was a privilege to capture an event that celebrated both the club’s remarkable history and the community that continues to support it.
Celebrating 150 Years of Hall Bower Cricket Club
Reaching a 150-year milestone is an incredible achievement for any grassroots sports club.
The anniversary match brought together a Hall Bower XI and a Huddersfield Town XI, featuring former players from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. It was fantastic to see familiar faces return, sharing memories while supporting a charity that means so much to many people.
The event wasn’t just about the cricket. It was about celebrating generations of players, volunteers, families, and supporters who have helped shape the club over the last century and a half.
Capturing More Than the Cricket
While there were plenty of exciting moments on the pitch, the story of the day extended far beyond the boundaries.
Throughout the event I focused on capturing:
- Competitive batting, bowling, and fielding action
- Players celebrating memorable moments
- Spectators enjoying the occasion
- Conversations between former teammates
- Families supporting the event
- Charity presentations and community spirit
Thank You
A huge thank you Andy Booth for inviting me to photograph and to everyone at Hall Bower Cricket Club for the warm welcome.
Congratulations on reaching this incredible 150-year milestone, and thank you to everyone who helped make the charity match such a success in support of the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.
I hope the photographs help preserve the memories of a fantastic day for players, volunteers, supporters, and the wider community.
